"You've Been TWIXED" PRANK

Hi Friends,

The idea for this craft came to me while Naomi and I were down the candy aisle a few weeks ago. We were in search of hubby’s beloved gummy bears and found the container with tiny snack-sized bags. I jokingly said, “You can’t TRICK us(paying more for the individualized bags), we’re getting the BIG BAG.” Last time I checked, candy didn’t need to worry about social distancing. So, a large bag worked best for my hubby and my wallet. LOL

I then happen to see Twix bags nearby and the idea came! I asked Naomi what she thought about a Twix prank that “TWIXED” aka tricked people with plain pretzels, instead of the expected chocolate & caramel-covered biscuit. It took her a bit to catch on and then she smiled slyly….. = )

This prank is so easy! But would it actually work? You’ll have to find out.

What You'll Need

  1. (1) Bag of Twix Candy

  2. (1) Bag of Pretzel Rods

    (2 rods= 3 prank candies)

  3. Sharp Knife (adult)

  4. (2) Paper Plates

  5. Ziploc Bag

  6. Small Bowl/Platter

  7. Glue Gun (adult)

optional: save the original candy bag.

The Steps

EMPTY WRAPPERS

  1. Make sure your hands are clean before handling the candy.

  2. With both hands grasp the upper portion of the wrapper and pull carefully.

We want to separate without tearing.

  3. Open up the center seam a bit to get the candy out.

  4. Repeat with all the candy or just the few you want to work with.

5. Place all the candy in a Ziploc bag for future consumption.

6. Temporarily place the wrappers in the bowl.

7. TURN ON your glue gun to warm up, and set it aside safely. A low-heat gun works best if you have one.

8. Carefully saw through the pretzels; 1 rod gives you about 3 Twix-sized pieces.

You’ll need 2 small pretzels per wrapper.

9. Place the cut pretzels on the 2nd plate.

FILL WRAPPERS

  1. Place 2 small pretzels in the wrapper and push down all the way.

2. Add a small drop of glue on the center seam and press together carefully.

3. Add 1-2 small drops of glue on the upper portion of the wrapper and press it together as well.

The wrapper may begin to pucker/melt with a regular gun, but it’s not too bad.

3. Continue with the rest of the wrappers and then put them into your bowl/platter.

That’s it!

Optional: Place all the TWIXED candy back into the original package and seal it with the glue gun. Leave the bag unattended, someone is bound to tear into it!

Now, offer them up to your family or in the future, your unsuspecting friends and co-workers.

They’re lighter in weight but it won’t make much of a difference to the happy recipient lol.

SO, DID THE PRANK WORK??

I wasn’t sure how we’d pull it off.

Naomi wanted to offer the candy right away but it would be too suspicious. I’d also have to have some lighting and the camera present. That wouldn’t work.

I told her we had to wait for the perfect time, we had to just leave them out and hope for the best. The kitchen table was too obvious, so I left them out on the kitchen counter. Plus, the kitchen window provided plenty of lighting.

It took 1-day friends, just one, long day, and then hubby fell for the TWIX”!!!

DAY 1:

Hubby had seen the candy on the counter and picked one up without my knowledge. He didn’t open it but asked us if the candy was good.

We answered, yes, because the candy WAS good, it just wasn’t IN the wrapper. I knew he meant if the candy was edible because it seemed different to him. lol He opted for his gummy bears instead that day.

DAY 2:

The next day he decided to “switch it up” and grabbed the candy on the counter.

The candy he had previously questioned… surprised him entirely.

The candy was lighter in weight and pretzel-like.

He STILL bit into it, thinking it could be a NEW kind of Twix” lol (his explanation)

NOPE just pretzels = 0

He yelled out from the kitchen, “I thought you said these were good?!”

I RUSHED to the kitchen and saw what was happening, I LOST IT.

I just laughed uncontrollably while he gave me a puzzled, yet fully aware look, he knew I was involved somehow.

I said, “What are you talking about, they ARE good.”

“What’s THIS then?” He asked.

I said, “WAIT, WAIT, show me exactly what you did, let me see for myself. I’m not sure I know what you’re talking about.” Which allowed me to pull out my phone and snap away AS he was showing me.

He says, “What’s this?”

I said, “You’ve been TWIXED! It’s an EARLY April Fool’s trick!”

He smirked while shaking his head and responded, “Oh, Lovey.”

He forgave me when I brought out the peace offering aka bagged Twix candies =)

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!!!!

We weren’t satisfied with just hubby’s prank, we had to try with at least one more person.

We spent time playing out back, then I summoned for some Twix candy. Naomi knew this was the signal for the prank. She brought out the same bowl, this time with a Twix bar in her hand, and took a bite. She said, “Micah do you want candy?”

He looks at me and asks, “Can I?“Just one”, I respond.

He was like, “Wow, Twix is different! It’s a Twix pretzel!” We laughed and explained that it had been a prank and that he could have as many as he wanted, even little brother = )

“But MOM, how did you do this?!he asks. Naomi said,sh, it’s a secretlol

If that wasn’t enough, late in the evening we were still chuckling about the pranks. Hubby says, “Hmm, NEXT YEAR you won’t get me, I’ll know”. I retorted, “That’s ok, I’ll just start in February.” And he just laughed.

My family are good sports, hoping yours are too!

Happy crafting and happy April Fool’s friends!

Amanda and Naomi
