NYE Ball Noisemakers

Hi friends,

I hope you’re all ready for Christmas because it’s just a few days away. We’ll then get to celebrate a brand new year and all that it’ll bring! For me, that means welcoming the new year with family, talking & planning with them, and celebrating the baby boy born almost 8 years ago. Micah was due in the middle of January, but just like his very independent self, arrived on the 2nd instead. For the last 7 years, we’ve celebrated Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, my sister’s birthday on the 26th, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day, all while prepping for Micah’s (arrival)birthday. It’s a whirlwind of fun that settles down on the 3rd thankfully.

This week’s craft resembles the NYE ball that drops at midnight, which is oh so fitting for my little dude; our surprise noisemaker that “dropped” before we expected him. lol Check out our NYE Ball Noisemakers with simple supplies!

What You'll Need

  1. Paper Plates w/rim (2 per)

  2. Large Craft Sticks

  3. Hot Glue

  4. Newspaper/Table Cover

  5. Craft Paint

  6. Cotton Balls or Brushes

  7. Marker

  8. Beans, Dry Pasta, or Beads

Optional: Clothespins, Paint Tray, Party Straws

The Steps

  1. Lay out your table cover/newspaper and turn your plates to the backsides.

  2. Use your cotton balls or brushes to make large/small dots, long lines, or other designs. You can also use the tips of the clothespins to make designs. Repeat with the other plate/s so that you have double-sided noise makers or plenty for the family.

3. When the plates are dry use a marker to add your message:

HAPPY NEW YEAR!, HAPPY 2022! , or 2022!!

4. Turn one plate over and add a handful of beans/pasta/beads to the base.

5. Add hot glue to the rim of the plate, lay the large craft stick down about 1.5 inches over the rim, and lay the 2nd plate on top, press carefully.

To add the fun “lightbulbs” you see on the New Year’s Eve ball that drops, cut plastic straws and hot glue them to the outer rim on 1 or both sides.

THAT’S IT!

Happy crafting!

Amanda and Naomi
