Hi friends,

We’re here to bring you a little fun from the 4th of July parades! The parades are lively, festive, mostly red, white, & blue, and always have different types of vehicles decorated for the holiday. They bring out families, friends, and neighbors, highlight the local groups and businesses, and provides such joy and excitement for the spectator. If you’ve never been, they’re lots of fun and usually don’t take long. Bringing comfy chairs, snacks, drinks, and sunscreen make the experience better!

Today you’ll be able to decorate your own parade paper truck and/or wooden one(Dollar Tree or craft stores), then imagine yourself or a family member driving it in the parade, playing loud music, while you throw candy, and wave to everyone. Check these cute trucks out below!

What You'll Need

  1. Truck Print Out

  2. Wood Truck

  3. Craft Paints

  4. Paint Brushes & Tray

  5. Rinse Jar

  6. Newspaper/Tablecover

    Optional: Color Pencils/Crayons

The Steps

PAINTING- If coloring the sheet only, go to step 6.

  1. Spread your newspaper out and *thin your paints a bit with water, for the wooden truck body and other areas.

*Naomi didn’t thin hers out(right mint truck), it took much more paint and time to dry.

  2. Paint the body(both sides & inside if your version has it).

3. I used thinned out tan paint to mimic a light stain on the wood rails and around the details for an aged look. Use any color you’d like.

4. Paint the tires and add your decorative touches & wording!

5. Let dry for 5 - 10 minutes.

COLORING

6. Print your sheet if you haven’t already, begin to color it in and add your decorative touches and wording. You may paint it like we did(follow steps 1-4 above).

That’s it!

Naomi’s truck.

She only decorated 1 side of the wood truck and mimicked the look on the paper truck.

My truck.

I painted both sides the same and tried to as well with the paper truck. I missed the festive flowers haha.

The littles were so excited for these trucks to dry so they could play!

Happy crafting!

Amanda and Naomi
