Purple Shamrock Painting

Hi friends,

We have a deep purple Shamrock craft today! I was looking for clovers online and this beautiful plant appeared to my surprise. The leaves are a rich purple/burgundy color, look like butterflies, and are edible! It also has small white or lavender flowers and is known as Purple Clover, False Shamrock, or Love Plant.

I was so impressed with the little find, they’re a great change-up for the green Shamrocks. I had to make them in honor of my girly’s birthday too. She’s rich in character, beautiful, and continually transforming like a butterfly. Check out our heart-shaped, Purple Shamrock wreaths below!

What You'll Need

  1. White Construction Paper

  2. Pencil

  3. Scrap Paper

  4. Scissors

  5. Dark Purple, Lavender/White, & Green Craft Paints

  6. Paint Brushes

  7. Rinse Jar

  8. Markers

The Steps

  1. Turn your paper horizontally and draw a large heart.

  2. Use your scrap paper to make 2 leaves, 1 larger in size than the other, both with rounded, flat top V’s, and a tiny dip at the top.

  3. Cut out the leaves.

4. Use the cutouts to trace the leaves around the heart shape, 3 per grouping, and individual leaves as well.

5. Add some vines, little flowers, and a few heart-shaped clovers if you’d like.

6. We didn’t have a dark enough purple, so we added a bit of black to darken it and then painted each leaf.

7. Paint the stems and optional heart clovers green and the flowers white or lavender.

8. Write Love Shamrock in pencil and then trace with markers.

That’s it!

Naomi’s heart and mine!

Happy crafting!
