What You'll Need

  1. Watercolor Paper

  2. Painters Tape

  3. Craft Paints & Brushes

  4. Pencil

  5. Marker/Fine Point Pen

  6. Rinse Jar

The Steps

CANDY CANE

  1. Trace the tape's outer edge to draw the candy cane's top part. Optional- trace the inner part of the tape or draw it yourself.

  2. Trace the brush length to guide the rest of the candy cane.

  3. You can trace the candy cane in marker next or wait until after it’s painted. We made one both ways.

DESIGN

  1. Cut long strips, narrow strips, or any shape and lay them on the page. The more tape on the page, the more white will be exposed later.

**Make sure your tape isn’t old, 0ur tape was and it tore our paper.

PAINT

  1. Use multiple paints, follow a pattern, or place them randomly on the exposed areas.

2. Let the paint dry for about 10 minutes, then carefully peel off the tape. Touch up any areas if necessary.

3. If you haven’t yet, trace the candy cane with the marker.

That’s it!

Optional Ideas: Paint some of the newly exposed areas, write holiday phrases/lyrics, or write down holiday character quotes Ex. Santa or Buddy the Elf

This candy cane on the left is less defined and has different shapes and Christmas song lyrics. The candy cane on the right has paint added back onto the candy cane and other areas, stripes, and Buddy the Elf quotes.

Happy crafting
