“Stepping Into Class” Card

Hi friends,

It’s time for another school-themed craft because it’s that time of year again. Summer break is just about over for us and we’re getting everything ready, including first-day introductions! For the last 4 years, I’ve sent introduction cards with gift cards to our new teachers, sharing bits about my boys and hopefully setting the tone for my support.

My littles join me in making the cards, it helps them ease into school mode, allows their teachers to get to know them, and provides a face to the name(photos get included). So check out our stepping-into-class craft, where your kids put their best foot forward!

What You'll Need

  1. (2) Construction Papers(different colors)

  2. Intro Sheet: wide card/narrow card

  3. Pencil

  4. Scissors

  5. Glue

  6. Marker/Pen

  7. Small Photo of your child

    Optional: Gift Card/Small Gift

The Steps

CARD

  1. Print out the introduction sheet(wide for smaller feet, narrow for larger ones), *fill in the information, and then fold the sheet in half.

*To have a memento, fill out all the sections minus the parent section, photocopy the sheet, then leave a note to your child in the parent section of the copied version. Create a 2nd card to keep with the sheet glued inside. Don’t forget to fill out the parent section of the original sheet before moving on.

  2. Place your child’s photo and/or a gift card on the blank section of the sheet.

  3. Fold 1 sheet of construction paper in half for the card(wide for smaller feet, narrow for larger ones) and glue the intro sheet on the inside.

FOOTPRINT

  1. Trace your child’s shoe onto the 2nd colored paper.

  2. Cut out the footprint, center it on the front of the card, and glue it down.

PHRASE

  1. Write* STEPPING INTO CLASS above the foot and

Like It’s 2023/24! under the foot.

    That’s it!

    *Just a little Prince (‘Party like it’s 1999’) reference ; )

Have a great first day of school everyone!

Happy crafting!

Amanda and Naomi
