Tape Resist Dad Card

DIY Dad Card, Father’s Day, Tape Resist Craft, Cheap Crafts, Dollar Tree Crafts, Gift Ideas, Painting Craft

Hi friends,

Dad’s day is very soon! We’re sharing a simple tape resist card that plays off the irRESISTible part of each dad and their jokes/humor. Thankfully Hubby has no corny jokes lol BUT he’s definitely full of silly sayings. The littles, Naomi, and I get the brunt of it. You can almost always hear one of these phrases coming out of our mouths, NO Dad/Lovey, that’s not true. That’s not how you say that. That’s not what that means, Oh, Dad/Lovey, while we shake our heads and laugh. I guess it’s his way of keeping us on our toes. Jokes aside, our Dad & Hubbs tape resist cards are easy to make and only take a few supplies.

What You'll Need

  1. Watercolor/Acrylic Paper

  2. Painters/Masking Tape

  3. Scissors

  4. Craft Paints & Brush

  5. Markers

Optional: Newspaper, Pencil, Hand Wipes, Rinse Jar

The Steps

  1. Turn the paper horizontally and fold.

  2. Cut strips of tape and then cut in half lengthwise, to make thinner strips.

  3. Use the thin strips to form the letters in DAD or as we did by using small pieces on the right side.

Naomi made boxier letters, I tried to keep mine rounded.

For the HUBBS card(or your preferred word), you can follow the same instructions above.

4. Squirt some paint onto the letters and below them(not shown).

5. With a dry brush, spread the paint across from one side to the other, overlapping the colors, and working it further down the card.

6. Repeat with any other cards you have.

7. Once the paint is dry, carefully remove the tape.

8. Write one of the phrases in pencil and/or marker, on the lower white or painted areas-

Dad we can’t RESIST you or your jokes.

Hubbs/Hubby we can’t RESIST you or your jokes.

That’s it!

Now, combine your card with a corny dad shirt or a custom one with his own sayings on it, dad joke book, corny magic trick ideas/gadgets, cheesy treats, corn nut snacks, your own jokes/sayings for him, or a combination of these. He’s bound to get a chuckle out of it himself.

Happy crafting and Happy Father’s Day!

Amanda and Naomi
