Gingerbread Boy & Girl

Hi friends,

We have a cute gingerbread boy & girl craft for you. The gingerbread kids can be personalized with a hair bow, bowtie, scarf, buttons, or squiggle lines. You can use ribbons, fabric strips, and buttons to create the features or just paint them on. Whichever options you choose, these gingerbread kids are easy to make! Check out our gingerbread boy & girl below.

What You'll Need

  1. White Paper Plates

  2. Pencil

  3. Drinking Cup with narrow & wide ends

  4. Scissors

  5. Craft Paint & Brushes

  6. Glue

  7. Table Cover or Crafting Mat

    Optional: Fabric, Ribbon, Buttons

The Steps

  1. Turn your plate over and place the wide side of the cup at the very top/center of the plate, and trace 1/2 of it. This will be the head.

  2. Flip the cup to the narrow end and repeat 4 more times for the hands and feet, tracing the feet closer together.

  3. Connect the head to the hands and the hands to the feet.

  4. *Cut out the gingerbread kid.

*IF MAKING MULTIPLES: Stack a few plates under the top one before cutting carefully.

5. Paint your gingerbread kids brown and let dry a few minutes before painting the features or gluing the real ones on.

6. If using ribbon or fabric, you can create a hairbow, bowtie, or scarf, then glue it on.

7. Let the gingerbread boy/girl dry for about 10 -15 minutes.

That’s it!

Micah’s gingerbread boy had a painted cap, buttons, and a bowtie, along with his squiggle lines. Naomi added buttons, dashes, and a fabric scarf to hers. I added a fabric hairbow, dashes, squiggle lines, and cute rosy cheeks.

These were easy and fun to make.

Happy crafting!

Amanda and Naomi
