Handprint Dino Tracks

Hi friends,

We’ve got easy to make handprint dino tracks with paint, brushes, and construction paper.

Summer is near and so are some fun, summer movies. One of those movies is the 7th in the Jurassic Park series- Jurassic World: Dominion. My littles are too young to watch these, but they’re great for my teens. I’m amazed that movies I watched as a teen are still being made, available to watch with my teens, and in theaters too!

If your kiddos like dinos, Jurrasic Park, or just easy crafts, try our dino tracks!

What You'll Need

  1. Black or White Construction Paper

  2. Green Craft Paints or mix your own

  3. Wide & Narrow Paint Brushes

  4. Wash Rag/Wipes

  5. Rinse Jar

The Steps

  1. If making different shades of green, mix those in advance. We made an army green with green, mustard, and a tiny bit of black.

  2. Paint your right/left hand MINUS the pointer finger or the ring finger (4 fingers total).

3. Spread your fingers apart, BUT keep your middle and pointer fingers joined or the middle and ring fingers joined(as above).

4. Slightly angle your hand, fingers spread as described, and press the palm & fingers down firmly.

5. With the wide brush fill in all the open areas on the print.

6. Repeat the prints in multiple colors or swap hands, cleaning your hands in between if desired.

7. Use the narrow brush and a lighter color of green to add the dino claws.

8. You can leave it as is or use the narrow brush to write “DINO TRACKS”, then allow it to dry for 5- 10 minutes.

That’s it!

Naomi made 2 prints in the same color and I made 3 in varied greens.

STORYTIME

When my oldest was turning 12 in 2015, Jurassic World came out just in time for his birthday and his fun, dino-tastic, Jurrasic-themed party. That same boy is turning 19 soon… and the most current movie will be out the same month as his birthday (I’m not crying, this here is eye sweat) : )

PARTY USES

— This craft is a fun party activity, with guests leaving their “tracks” on a long craft paper roll.

— This craft could be made in advance, 2 prints per sheet x however many prints are needed, then cut them in half, and hide them for a fun Dino Track hunt.

Happy crafting!

Amanda and Naomi
