Dr. Seuss Magnets & Ornaments

Hi friends,

We’ve got super easy Dr. Seuss magnets and ornaments made from school supplies! If you LOVE Dr. Seuss and like thinking outside the box, these ornaments are definitely for you! Due to ever-changing stock, making these in advance is advised.

While shopping at Dollar Tree, Micah and I spotted the vibrant Cat In The Hat school supplies. I immediately thought of my kiddos who like the Dr. Seuss movies, but especially our “Giant Redhead” (unofficially adopted daughter who is MUCH taller than us and regularly sports beautiful fiery hair), she LOVES them. I told him this Christmas we’d have a fun, wacky tree, full of bright colors, and Dr. Seuss ornaments. He loved the idea = ) Check our out magnets and ornaments below.

What You'll Need

  1. Dr. Seuss Sharpeners, Rubber Erasers, or Felt Erasers

  2. Magnets

  3. Ornament Hooks or Paperclips

  4. Hot Glue

    Optional: Ribbon

The Steps

T: Felt eraser L: Pencil sharpener R: Rubber eraser

  1. Turn the Dr. Seuss items over and decide which you’d like as magnets or ornaments.

  2. The black felt eraser is already magnetized, but to strengthen its hold you can add a few small magnets to the back. To make an ornament look further below.

  3. Removing the pencil sharper from the decorative base is optional: an alternative method requires a string tightly wrapped around the sharpener and looped for a string-hanging ornament(not shown).

4. Add a bit of hot glue to the back of the items and carefully place a magnet, hook, or *ribbon loop(for a more decorative look).

*alternative method: use a thick needle and decorative string to puncture the upper part of the plastic, then create a loop for hanging(not shown).

5. To make an ornament from the felt eraser, poke one end of the ornament hook through the top and add a tiny bit of glue to secure it.

Option 1: Wrap string or ribbon to cover the glue. Option 2: Skip the hook and glue a decorative loop of ribbon on the back. Option 3: Use a thick needle and decorative string to puncture the upper back part of the foam, feed it upwards to the top, then create a loop for hanging(not shown).

That’s it!

I love their wild hair!

We purchased a few of each item to create multiples. Each item comes individually wrapped except the little rubber erasers, you get 6 per package.

Happy crafting!
