Flower & Fuzzy Caterpillar

Hi friends,

Today we’re bringing you pretty flowers made with different shades of construction paper(not as visible on screen) and cute fuzzy caterpillars. These are easy to make and can vary in color & petal shape. I can’t forget the caterpillars, you can make them with 1 or 2 colors. Check out our pretty flowers and fuzzy caterpillars below.

What You'll Need

  1. (2) Sheets of Similar Colored Construction Paper + (1) Green

  2. Recycled Thin Cardboard

  3. Scissors

  4. Glue

  5. Pencil

  6. (1-2) Pipe Cleaners

  7. Small Bowl

The Steps

Base

  1. Place your bowl onto the underside/plain side of the cardboard and trace the bottom.

  2. Cut the cardboard circle out and trace over the green paper.

  3. Cut the green circle out and glue on top of the cardboard circle.

Petals: The color variance isn’t as visible on screen, but Naomi had white & off-white sheets, I had 2 different shades of blue.

4. Fold each sheet in half, cut the halves, and set 1 of each colored halves aside.

5. Stack both of your halves and fold into 1/8th sections/rectangles.

6. Keeping your sheets folded, draw a decorative edge/tip onto the wide side of your paper.

7. Hold your folded papers firmly and cut out the design, including all folded edges.

Flower

8. Separate petal colors and glue around the green base, alternating by color or by layer until are used.

9. Cut a few strips of green to scrunch up or fold and glue onto the center of the flower (further below).

Caterpillar: For 2 colors use 1/2 pipe cleaner + 1/4 of a different colored pipe cleaner, for 1 color use 1/2 pipe cleaner.

10. For 1 color caterpillar: fold your pipe cleaner in half and twist until you get your caterpillar, for 2 colors, fold your longer piece in half, place the 2nd color in between and twist all 3 ends together. Tuck any extra ends under.

11. Lastly, glue the caterpillars directly across the petals or propped up a bit onto the center(below).

Naomi choose a springy center.

I tore the strips and scrunched them up.

Happy crafting!

Amanda and Naomi
