MAIN EVENT Dad's Day Card

Hi friends,

We’re continuing the carnival/circus theme this week. Dad’s Day is coming up and this Main Event Dad’s Day card is a fun craft to showcase that special dad! A portrait of Dad is front & center and a striped big top tent is in the background. One popcorn sack provides two tents and a third in a 3D option. Check out our main event cards below!

What You'll Need

  1. White Construction Paper

  2. Popcorn Sack

  3. Scrap Paper 5 1/4 in. x 3 1/2 in.

  4. Pencil

  5. Scissors

  6. Glue

  7. Colored Pencils/Markers

    Optional: Star Stickers

The Steps

CARD

  1. Fold your white paper in half

BIG TOP TENT

  1. Fold your scrap paper in half(should be the width of your bag prior to folding), draw 3 peaks starting from the fold, and a curved rectangle opening from the fold.

  2. Cut out the tent from scrap paper and open it up.

If more than 1 card is needed, 1 sack will provide 3 tents. Adjust the quantity of white paper to your needs.

3. 3D TENT: Keep the sack folded, flip over to the back side with the rectangle bottom, and upside down. Place the tip of the tent on the top straight edge, the bottom will be facing down towards the jagged edge, trace the tent, and cut it out, through all the layers (do not separate). Optional: use decorative edge scissors or create your own design on the bottom of the tent.

2D TENT: Open the popcorn sack, flatten the sack with the stripes in the middle and the wording on the sides, and flip upside down so the jagged edge is down. Place the tent right over the jagged ends, trace it, and carefully cut it out through both layers for (2) 2D tents.

CARD

2. Glue the striped tent about 1 inch down (3D tent only the bottom layer).
