Finger Puppet Sweaters

Hi friends,

Fall officially starts this week! We’re bringing your kiddos cute, fuzzy, fall sweaters to slide onto their fingers or create craft stick puppets. They’re adorable, fun to design, and don’t take much effort. We’ll show you both versions below, so check out our mini finger puppet sweaters!

What You'll Need

  1. (1/4) Sheet Stiff Felt

  2. Pencil

  3. Scissors

  4. Glue/Hot Glue

  5. Markers

    Optional: Jumbo Craft Sticks

The Steps

PREP

  1. Cut your sheets in half and then in half once again(1/4 sheets), repeat for multiple sweaters.

DRAW & CUT

  1. Face your 1/4 sheet vertically and fold it in half.

  2. Place 2-3 fingers down and draw the width, length, sleeves, and rounded collar of their sweater. The length will depend on your child’s lower 2/3 section of their fingers.

  3. Keep the felt folded and carefully cut out both layers.

DESIGN & GLUE

Finger Puppet:

Color the front of the sweater(the back is optional), then separate the two pieces. Add glue to the inside edges of the sweater(hot glue will dry quickly, liquid glue will take 30 minutes to 1hr to dry), fill in the sleeves, and carefully press the two layers together. Once the sweater is dry, check that it fits on the finger, if it’s a tad snug, carefully stretch it a bit.

Craft Stick Puppet:

Same as above. While the sweater dries, draw a face on the top part of a craft stick. Once it’s dried, slide it into the sweater. The stick can be removed anytime for finger puppet play.

That’s it!

Happy crafting and happy fall!
