NINJA TURTLES: Paper Bag Puppets

Hi friends,

Today we’re having fun with NINJA TURTLES: paper bag puppets inspired by our Courageously Creative friend!

DIY Ninja Turtle puppets with paper bags, construction paper, and markers.

Our hospitalized buddy used our Hope Box supplies, created four puppets, and then shared them with us! Now we get to share our version and highlight our little buddy’s craft below.

What You'll Need

  1. (1) Brown, Yellow, White, Red, Orange, Blue, and (3) Green Construction Sheets

  2. (4) Paper Bags

  3. Fine & Wide Tip Black Pens

  4. Pencil

  5. Scissors

  6. Glue

  7. Medicine Cup

The Steps

BASE- if you have green bags skip to the next section: #2.

  1. Turn two green papers horizontally, fold them in half, and cut them in the middle

    (4 pieces total: body).

  2. Line up the four green halves behind one paper bag, draw a line down the side of the bag, then cut off the four narrow strips of green(reserve: arms).

  3. Now stack all the bags, place one piece of green paper over the bags, trace the bottom edge, and carefully cut off the bottom sections (discard the sections).

FACE & HANDS

  1. Use the last green sheet, trace the bottom of the paper bag 4x(face), then cut them out.

  2. Use the green strips(or use other paper), fold them in half, draw 1 hand per strip with three fingers, then cut them all out (8 hands).

  3. Glue the hands onto the bags first, tuck in the green sections, and glue next, last glue on the face.

CHEST & BUCKLE

  1. Fold your yellow paper into fourths, draw an oval shape with a wider top part, and use the medicine cup to draw a small buckle.

  2. Trace the first layer in a fine-tip pen, including the chest sections.

  3. Cut all the layers and trace the rest of the pieces.

4. Write the letters M L D R on one of the buckles and trace with the wide-tip pen.

M- Michelangelo

L- Leonardo

D- Donatello

R- Raphael

BELT & MASK

  1. Fold your brown paper into four strips, 1.5 inches x 5 inches, then cut them out.

  2. Trace 1 brown strip onto each of the colored papers(blue, purple, red, orange) and then cut out the masks.

EYES & MOUTH

  1. Fold a strip of white paper 4x, trace the glue stick 2x, draw the pupils and glare circles, then cut them all out.

  2. Outline the rest of the eyes with the thin pen and fill in with the wide.

  3. Fold another strip of white paper 4x, draw one mouth, trace it, and cut them all out, then trace the last three mouths.

ASSEMBLE

  1. Glue the masks near the top of the face, add the eyes, mouth, chest, belt, and lastly match the buckle:

    Orange= M

    Blue= L

    Purple= D

    Red= R

That’s it!

We’re so proud of our buddy!

He did an amazing job and inspired us to make our own Ninja Turtles puppets.

Keep an eye out for our next Courageously Creative craft!

Happy crafting
