Hi Friends,
Our spring-inspired April Showers, May Flowers, Twisting Tube craft displays both the rainy and sunny weather with a twist of the tube.
You’ll repurpose your empty cardboard tubes, create your rainy and sunny landscapes, and then assemble them for rotating weather scenes. Check it out below.

PREP
Cut out a two-inch-wide strip from the first tube.
Glue that strip to the inside of the second tube, with a slight overhang, to create a tab.
Fold the paper into fourths and cut out each section.
Wrap one of the paper sections around the outside of the open tube, cut off any excess paper from the length, and then cut the inside flaps, leaving 1 inch of paper on each side.
OUTER TUBE LANDSCAPE
Remove the wrapped paper from the open tube, leave the folded sections tucked under, then color your grass and clouds.
Add glue to the outer part of the open tube and press the landscape onto it, gluing the flaps around the inside of the tube.
INNER TUBE WEATHER
Use a second section of paper and cut it to fit around the uncut tube with a slight overlap for gluing.
On half of the paper, draw your rainy scene with clouds and rain, and on the other half, draw your sunny scene with flowers, plants, birds, etc.
Write APRIL SHOWERS on the rainy side and MAY FLOWERS on the other side.
CLEAR COVER options
TAPE: Cut a 3-inch strip of tape and a 2-inch strip. Place the 2-inch sticky part against the center sticky part of the larger piece and repeat once more.
EMPTY WATER BOTTLE: Remove the label from the bottle, pinch the upper section a bit, cut into it, removing a 3-inch by 3 & 3/4 inch section. Add some tape to the outer edges.
CLEAR FOLDER: Cut a 3-inch by 3 & 3/4 inch section and add tape to the outer edges.
2. Place the uncut tube inside the open tube and loosely add the tape(2), water bottle section, or clear folder around it, making sure the outer tape is attached to the landscape drawing.
INNER TUBE
Add glue to the tube and press the weather landscape with the flowers on the front and the rain on the back.
Let it dry for about 5 minutes, then place it inside the clear tube, and rotate it for the weather changes.
That’s it!
Happy crafting,
Amanda and Naomi
