Hi friends,
Our Lighting Up My Christmas Thank You Cards help your littles show thankfulness to family/friends who have or will give them Christmas gifts. They can’t purchase anything, but they could put a little effort into making them a thank-you card. The card has a Christmas theme, which doubles as a memento for them. The littles can use fingerprints for the lights or Q-tips for less mess. Check it out below!

The Steps
Christmas is this week! Though most of our shopping is done (kept it simple), we HAVEN’T wrapped a thing. Which also means we have nothing under the tree. The kids are pretty concerned lol.
On Friday, we got a wonderful surprise, Micah’s teacher made a quick stop and dropped off a gift for him. It was such a sweet and needed gesture during this whole COVID year. It was also the 1st time we’d seen each other in person. We’ll never forget it. We thanked her in person, but it just didn’t communicate how we felt. I told Micah we had to do something more to thank his teacher; we just weren’t able to give/send her a card(these would be great for teachers too).
He suggested sending her a video message, which I thought was perfect, and I’d top it off with an e-gift card.
FOLD
Turn your paper horizontally and fold over 3 inches.
Fold back the excess(right side) under the top fold, 1/2 inch.
Fold the last piece(left side) under the two other folds, leaving a 1/2 inch edge.
Or just fold into thirds
MESSAGE
Write: Thank You _____________ (space for the name) for Lighting Up my Christmas (leave a big space under) this year with… in pencil and marker or just in marker.
Go over with other markers, dotting the “i’s,” outlining “Christmas”, and making the string for the lights, starting at the “s” from Christmas.
Open up the card and continue making the string.
Repeat as many times as needed and using different colors.
NOTE & FINGERPRINTS
Have your child leave a note and/or their name on the inside, last section.
Place a newspaper under your card, squeeze the paints onto your plate, and start adding prints(lights) to the front string.
Let dry before moving onto the inside lights.
*Micah had fun but got weary after his 3rd card haha. Matthias quit after his 1st, so mom helped. They had 4 each. Q-tips might be the way for your littles.
If you choose to, your kiddos can add a print to the back flap of the envelope.
STORE & MAIL
When the cards/envelopes are dry, set them aside until after the kiddos have opened up their gifts.
When it’s time to mail the cards, have them address the person on the front, and on the inside, make lines for each gift received that “lit up” their Christmas.
That’s it!
Your loved ones will enjoy the surprise : )
I hope your kiddos will enjoy being gift givers and bucket fillers, all of their lives.
Happy crafting and Merry Christmas!
Amanda and Naomi
