Hi friends,

We made “YOU HOLD A SPOT” Bookmarks for moms. They’re simple, cute, and multi-purpose, but mostly we hope it’ll communicate: YOU’RE making a difference, your little’s need you, and you hold an important spot in their story.

PREP

SIDE 1

  1. Choose your marker colors and matching pom poms. Set the pom -poms aside until later.

  2. Start 1 inch from the left and write, “Happy Mother’s Day” and the year. You may leave a small gap for flowers or any design you’d like, and then add the year.

  3. Add your flowers or designs.

SIDE 2

1. FLIP OVER the stick onto the backside and write, “ You hold a spot in my STORY.”

We created a bunch to give out to mom’s we know!

Naomi’s versions

She added polka dots on most of hers.

2. Add a little glue to the center of 1 pom-pom and place the stick 1/2 way on it, press.

3. Repeat with the 2nd pom-pom. Place it over the 1st pom pom and the stick, press all 3 together. Naomi mixed colors on a few of them.

That’s it!

*I recommend sealing it because it’s bound to get wet. We chose to seal with clear polish as a last step, the pom pom creates a little lift, allowing both sides to be done easily (shown further below).

These turned out so cute! They even hold up like a little plaque on your desk or shelf and can be used in your planters if sealed.

When placed in your book or cookbook, the fuzzy pom-pom stands out nicely, just like YOU mama = )

GIFT IDEAS for yourself or another mom lol:

a) A few magazines/books + bottled tea/coffee (or gift card)& bookmark b) Gardening book/magazine + garden supplies + water bottle & bookmark

c) Cookbook + flavored oils + flavored water & bookmark

d) Bookstore gift card + juice bar/coffee bar gift card & bookmark e) Entertainment/tabloid magazines + soda + candy & bookmark.

Naomi’s bookmarks- showing both sides and mine.

Standing a few up and painting a few with clear polish to seal; it caused very little smearing and dried quickly. Just pour out a thin strip and use the brush to cover completely. Repeat on the opposite side.

I thought about the creativity, resourcefulness, and spirit of togetherness I’ve seen during this pandemic. It has been awesome!

Best of all, you're using your talents, what’s around you, and some ingenuity. I'm certain we’ll see amazing, unique ways moms get celebrated this year. Your togetherness will be different, but the spirit will be the same: to honor your mama :)

Happy Mother’s Day and Happy crafting,

Amanda and Naomi
