Hi friends,

Teacher appreciation week is here! We’ve got a super simple, cute, bird-inspired card for your teachers. Your kiddo will tell them how they fluttered and soared, with their teacher’s help, and hopefully in their teacher’s favorite color. On the inside, they’ll get a chance to thank them personally and include a drawing too. Moms and dads can even add a thank-you of their own. For in-person students take the card in with a treat and for the online kiddos, parents can photograph the card, email it to the teacher, and include an ecard. Check it out below.

What You'll Need

  1. Construction Papers (White + Colored)

  2. Bird Stickers

  3. Ruler

  4. Glue

  5. Scissors

  6. Pencil

  7. Markers/Color Pencils

The Steps

  1. Fold your white paper in half and cut.

2. Fold your colored paper (white if you choose a white card) in half.

3. Add glue to the inside half of the colored paper and place the white half on top. For a white card, include that 2nd white sheet to strengthen it.

4. On the front of the card write out for your child in pencil or have them write:

Thank You

you taught me to

flutter and soar,

higher than before.

5. Your child can then trace the *wording with a marker.

*For the examples, we only filled in the initial, but you will write out their complete name.

6. Place the birds on the front of the page.

OPTIONAL: Include clouds or tree branches.

We chose to draw a tree, branches and leaves around the birds. Even if the specific birds wouldn’t be found on trees lol

7. Create writing lines on the white(right) side with the marker and ruler for your child’s note and leave the bottom open for their drawing.

8. Your child can then fill those portions out or with some help from you.

That’s it!

update: For an easy memento to keep, photocopy the filled-out pages, cut them out, and glue them onto folded construction paper. Then leave your child a note for the future detailing what they learned, the friends they had, their favorite toys/shows/snacks, etc. File away with that school year’s art/paperwork.

These came out super cute. Micah was able to share his card, along with his classmates who shared their own, in class today. It was awesome to hear his teacher’s reaction to all the sweet cards and words from her students.

Happy crafting and Happy Teacher’s Appreciation Week!
