Puddles & Play 3 Ways

Hi friends,

We’re bringing you our Puddles & Play 3 Ways, printable sheets used as stencils, or colored for a rainy day scene.

We used colored pencils, construction paper, a foil tablecloth, and a clear blue party bag, but you can also use markers, scrapbook sheets, and recycled party bags. You’ll get to decide if your person is facing forward, backward, standing straight, kicking, or stomping. Check out the three versions below.

What You'll Need

  1. White Construction Paper

  2. Puddle Play sheet 1, 2

  3. Scissors

  4. Pencil

  5. Colored Pencils/Markers

  6. Glue

Optional: Colored Construction Paper, Scrapbook/Patterned Paper, Old Foil Balloons/Foil Tablecloths


The Steps

Stencils used: large puddle, dome umbrella, 2 clouds, boots, raindrops, raincoat

COLORED STENCILS

  1. Color the stencils you want to use and cut them out(if necessary, cut down the size of the raincoat and boots).

  2. Fold over the white scraps, glue together, and then draw a head, face, and neck.

  3. Cut out the head and the neck in a V shape to fit the opening of the coat.

  4. Glue from the bottom up: puddle, boots, coat, head, umbrella slightly angled, raindrops, and clouds.

  5. Write Puddles & Play.

Stencils used: large puddle, wide umbrella, 2 clouds, boots, raindrops, raincoat

CONSTRUCTION/PATTERNED PAPER

  1. Rough-cut the stencils and glue them to the colored/patterned paper before cutting them out.

  2. Fold over the white scraps, glue together, and then draw a head, face, and neck.

  3. Draw the details onto the coat and umbrella(colored side).

  4. Glue from the bottom up, stencils facing down: puddle, boots with one slightly raised, splash drops, coat, head, umbrella slightly angled, and clouds.

  5. Write Puddles & Play.

FOIL/PLASTIC - facing towards the clouds

  1. Rough-cut the coat and umbrella stencil, then glue them to the foil paper before cutting them out. Glue the boots to the colored paper, and then cut them out as well.

  2. Glue the puddle and raindrop stencils to the blue plastic before cutting them out.

  3. Glue from the bottom up, stencils facing down: puddle, boots with one boot angled out, splash drops, coat, umbrella slightly over the coat, and clouds.

  4. Write Puddles & Play.
