Fun Backpack Charms

Hi friends,

As school begins for many, we thought we’d share these Fun Backpack Charms to help identify backpacks and add a personal touch.

My littles wanted the exact backpack; their friends/classmates could have similar bags, too. This little craft allows them to identify their backpacks with unique charms or name tags. They’ll even work on duffel bags and luggage. Check it out below.

PREP

  1. Take the ring off the white tag.

  2. Color the round, add stickers, jewels, and/or a name on both sides, making sure not to cover the hole.

GLUE

  1. With the pliers, hold the tag where the hole is and carefully cover one side with a thin layer of clear hot glue(transparent finish) or regular hot glue(frosted finish), and lay it upright to dry.

You can see the difference in finishes in the photo above.

  2. If you have more tags, glue only one side and set them aside to dry.

  3. Once the tags are dry, pick them up with the pliers again, and seal the opposite side. This time, HOLD them horizontally to dry for 30 -60 seconds. The heat from the glue softens the opposite side, so it’s necessary to hold them while both sides set.

  4. Repeat until all the tags are glued and dried.

ASSEMBLE

  1. Place each ring back onto the tag and then onto the backpack handle, open tab, or zippers.

That’s it!

We made extras for friends and passed them out on the first day of school : )

Happy crafting
